Monitoring of railway vehicles

Fiber optic monitoring system

Fiber optic monitoring system designed for detecting trains and trams, based on FBG (Fibre Bragg Grating) technology. Fully dielectric sensor designed for real-time detection of rail vehicle axles, operating across the full range of vehicle loads and speeds. A reliable system that can be used to measure the speed of a passing vehicle or train, direction of travel, number of axles and carriages. An advanced detection algorithm also makes it possible to distinguish the type of passing train and detect uneven axle load distribution.

The monitoring system is immune to stray currents and electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for the monitoring and control of tramway or railway operations with electric traction, where it is fully resistant to electrical disturbances and the resulting false alarms. The sensors are electrically passive and do not require a power supply at the measurement location, while the evaluation electronics can be installed several kilometers away from the monitored site. The acquired data are processed by the evaluation electronics and transmitted via a 4G interface to a server, which collects and stores the data in SQL database using the MQTT protocol. Data are presented to users through a web interface offering a wide range of customization options tailored to the specific installation and application. Remote data access enables integration of the system into commonly used supervisory systems and is always secured against unauthorized access.
